Joint Community Advocacy Meeting in the Sagaing Division

AHRN participated in a joint Community Advocacy Meeting in the Sagaing Division, Mawlaik District Administrative Office. We were honored with the active presence of three Members of Parliament, District Administrative Officer, District Medical Officer, District Police Officer, Community members, Civil Society Organizations and NGOs participated it in this well attended and dynamic event.

During the Opening speech, Daw Cho Cho Lwin (Member of Parliament) well aware and complimented NGOs working in Mawlaik, emphasized the value of partnerships, the key role of communities and the importance of communication. Member of Parliament U Tin Mg Win (Member of Parliament) expressed the need for enhanced coordination, and urgency to coordinate collaboration to enhance current activities, while he valued and appreciate the work of NGOs, it is also for other important to learn more about NGOs (supported) activities. CSO leader U Than Tun Aun expressed gratitude and his support NGO/INGO’s activities.

The (I)NGO present, provided an overview of their current work. #AHRN explained about our Harm Reduction, Drug Use and HIV activities and answered the questions raised by MPs, DMO.

In conclusion of this memorable and successful event, it was noted by the MPs that communities would benefit from more engagement and the production and distribution of Information, Education and Communication material, there was a strong call to advocate with donors to support for Health activities in Mawlaik, and increased activities and campaigns to reach and attract communities throughout Mawlaik Township.
