A truly important gathering on Health in Prisons, with the objective to obtain guidance, input and suggestions on improving prison health care in Myanmar and the process of development of National Strategic Framework on Health Care in Prisons (2019-2023).

#AHRN provided an overview of current and future Prison Health activities, the importance of through care before, during and upon release, emphasizing the need for early care for people who are detained in holding cells at police stations, with specific focus on drug dependency, mental health and withdrawal/overdose, mmt and infection control, and the urgency for inclusion of prison staff, notably occupational health for guards.
